Cleachd I: Returning To Gaelic Step 2 (Online)

This course is the second step of three progressive steps to complete our Returning to Gaelic series.

In this course, which is taught in Gaelic, you will learn to talk confidently about the past, read with growing ease and gain confidence in grammatical accuracy.

You will develop listening, speaking, reading and writing skills in your weekly online classes, held on Zoom, and through further interactive and independent activities, on our learning platform, Canvas.

Class-based activities include speaking, small-group role-plays, listening to dialogues or watching video clips.

Because language learning requires regular practice, you will consolidate your skills with vocabulary, grammar and writing exercises between classes.

You will need access to a computer equipped with a camera and microphone, a headset or earphones and a reliable internet connection. You will be provided with all necessary course materials digitally. 

If you have fully engaged with all the learning activities and have attended regularly, by the end of the course, you should be able to:

• Talk confidently about past events and future possibilities 
• Read Gaelic with growing ease and understanding 
• Demonstrate increasing confidence in your grammatical accuracy, and use strategies to verify correctness

This course is the second step of our returning to Gaelic courses and is open to anyone who have used Gaelic to a high proficiency level at a previous stage of life, either through use in their family or community or due to their attending Gaelic Medium Education, but who no longer use the language regularly. If needed, please self-assess.

You need to have used Gaelic to a high proficiency in the past. If you are unsure of your level, please self-assess. You will need basic digital skills, such as using a computer and navigating a website to access the course learning platform and your weekly class on Zoom.
