Space Data for Financial Services

This course is taught by subject area experts online through a combination of synchronous and asynchronous activity, including engagement with discussion boards. The course involves 7 hours of contact spread over 7 weeks.

This course explores how financial services can benefit from space data, including: 

 Introduction to space data

• Types of data and how/where to retrieve it
• Risk assessment and risk monitoring
• Environmental regulatory reporting
• Hands-on practical sessions 

 There are formative assessments through weekly online quizzes and tests, including quantitative assessments, to provide feedback aligned with industry standards. 

• Understand how space data is collected.
• Know where to find space data and be familiar with tools to analyse it.
• Have a broad understanding of how space data can be used in investment, risk management, regulatory reporting, insurance, and climate change.
• Gain experience in choosing, viewing, and generating outputs using space data.

This course is designed to support learners upskilling to facilitate a move into the space sector or to support a vertical move to a more senior position within the space sector.
