About the course

This course is delivered through a combination of online materials available to work through at your own pace and an optional in person day with subject area experts. The course covers various aspects of space data, including: 
  • Launch systems
  • Antennas and communications
  • Power, attitude, and control systems
  • Payloads and integration
  • Calibration and operations
  • Case studies on various aspects of spacecraft operations
 There are assessments through online quizzes aligned with industry standards.

What you'll learn

By the end of this course, you will:  
  • Be familiar with the challenges of operating in the space environment, including planetary surfaces.
  • Understand the key components of a spacecraft, their functions, and limitations.
  • Grasp the trade-offs between different spacecraft components and how they are balanced, using real-world examples.
  • Know the relevant industry standards, including jargon and terminology.

Who the course is for

This course is designed to support learners upskilling to facilitate a move into the space sector or to support a vertical move to a more senior position within the space sector.   

Entry criteria

A technical educational background (e.g apprenticeship, undergraduate or postgraduate degree) or equivalent experience is required
